One Year Of 'SILVER FOX'

For the past year Silver Halide has teamed up with Fox Lab to bring you a monthly initiative called ‘Silver-Fox’ - with an aim to encourage local photographers to bring their work in the to the physical form of print. Fox lab have been an incredible business to work with throughout our lab exhibitions, their attention to detail and commitment to getting the best result for each photographers work is second to none! We sat down with Tyson from FL to give you an insight into how they came to be and what it’s like to own a printing studio.

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Tyson Foster and I am the director at FoxLab Fine Art, a Fine Art Print Studio offering a unique & collaborative approach to documenting and printing the work of both Artists and Photographers.

Why did you start fox lab fine art? How did it come to be?

I created Fox Lab when I realized the need for a more collaborative process with artists for printing their fine art projects. I realized that artists want more than just dropping off their files and then coming back to collect them. I created a more hands-on approach that allows you to collaborate with us in a way that keeps you informed and part of the printing process. Our vision is also a commitment and a promise to you, the artist.

What are some of the highlights of FL?

Highlights within our business for us personally have been the launch of our online shop, being able to offer Artists and Photographers a place to be able to sell their work without the hassle and costs of running their own website. The launch of Facsimile, our collaborative exhibition with local artists and photographers. Finally getting round to organizing our own T-Shirts, due this month! Countless amazing exhibitions we have been honored to be a part of!

Favorite local business/or few?

Definitely Silver Halide Studios, Team Digital, Livid Skate Cafe, Old Habits Bar and The Corner Dairy

What inspires you?

Our clients are always a big inspiration. Being in nature and in the ocean. Industry figures such as Dr Les Walkling, Christian Fletcher and James Jean.

What’s in the works?

We are hoping to have another exhibition early next year, we have some new exciting services currently being tested and perhaps a new studio in the works! We are also currently working through all our services and roles in the business to fine tune them to get work back to our clients much faster. We are also testing new technology to further our quality of services.

What are some of the values that make you stand out from other businesses or print labs?

Certainly our collaborative approach to working with our clients, we prefer to work WITH them rather than FOR them. They are involved as little or as much as they like.

Attention to detail is something we pride ourselves on. While we are human and do make mistakes, our attention to detail is something we value highly.

A Relaxed atmosphere, a place where there are no stupid questions and somewhere where we believe in guiding you as much as possible.

We believe that digital can only do so much and understand you have a vision to ensure your art breathes and lives amongst those who truly desire and need it to be displayed within their lives. Great art inspires everyone who is fortunate enough to see it. Collaboration is the foundation of our process.
At Fox Lab, our printing must involve you during the entire print process.

From paper selection to file adjustments to printing specifications. You are with us each step of the way.

We promise to ensure you have an experience that ensures your final product meets your artistic vision. We realize that great art takes time and therefore understands the need to stay true to your vision in this important final step.
